The FAU Trombone Studio

“The Owlbones”

The FAU Trombone Studio “The Owlbones”, led by Dr. Jose Leonardo Leon since the Fall of 2019, is one of the fastest and high-quality studios of its kind in the south Florida area, presenting a great opportunity for students who aspire to become competitive professional musicians for the modern 21st century market. Both collectively and individually, the Owlbones have achieved incredible successes in recent years, such as: Members making the Intercollegiate Band at FMEA, attending the International Trombone Festival as Faculty’s Artist students, FAU Concerto Competition Awardees, professional performance experience with top south Florida Music organizations and ensembles such as the Boca Symphonia, the Symphony of the Americas, the Orchid City Brass, and Churches services, as well as seating as professional guess musicians or sub players with other collegiate institutions’ ensembles such as the Palm Beach Atlantic University and Lynn University, among others.

The Owlbones first studio recital showcased the very best of the present and future of the FAU trombone studio. Individual pieces from the standard trombone repertoire performed by the studio members, the trombone quartet, and ending on a high note with the entire collective of the Owlbones trombone ensemble, demonstrated a well refined work of our students in a fantastic evening dedicated to the slide brass instrument. Most recently, the FAU Trombone Studio has been included in the important “College Tours” list by the worldwide known web platform The Trombone Place by Pete Freeman. Would you like to be part of this amazing studio or for further information regarding application, scholarships, process, performance, auditions, and more, please contact Dr. Jose Leonardo Leon HERE
